As far as our politics are concerned, it's clear whose flag is up and whose down.

This is the famous "elephant trunk hole" at the northeast tip of Taiwan, in the suburbs Xinbei town.
But when one gets closer, it looks more like the head of a dinosaur.
or perhaps that of an ass?
for more than a mile, there's nothing but sheer cliffs on one side.

But the surface of the sedimentary rock looks smooth.
On can see two different kinds of rocks.
some smooth, some rough.
The combined action of the sea and rain has caused deep fissures.
and sometimes half upturned shell.
the water has carved out little basins on the softer rocks.
and pock-marked many rocks
Here a whole pack of reptiles and birds
opposite some layered platforms.
The morning sun has turned the surface of the sea a bit misty.

But where there's earth, there's grass.
Below me are another collections of reptiles.
Here and there, one find tiny rock pools.
and wherever possible, tiny plants strive to bloom.
everywhere one looks, one finds stone walls. It used to be a military fortification used by the Taiwanese army.
What's this, fossils of plants?

sea weeds and mosses never lose any chance to grow.
you won't believe it, this tiny pool one contained some shell fish.
One can easily see the direction in which the earth's crust is moving
a shell fish embedded in the rocks.
Believe it or not, these are salt deposits from dried up sea water.
harder rocks on softer surfaces.
What do you think this is? Is it artificial or natural.
The sea water has turned brown with saw dust. My guide told me these saw dust were what's left from a log of sweet-smelling tree trunk washed ashore during a typhoon and cut off by those who found it.
